Happy Birthday Sheila

Today is my mother-in-law's 86th birthday so we visited Selsey to take her out. On the way we stopped at Eternal Maker under Katy's recommendation and I was like a kid in a sweet shop.

I started off being quite restrained by choosing some webbing for the bag I made but then got a bit carried away.

I couldn't resist some new machine embroidery thread in Union Jack colours.

To go with that I needed some Union Jack fabric by 3Sisters for Moda.

Then the trouble really started as I couldn't resist these Union Jack metal buttons.

All in a good cause I also added 6 army buttons as the procedures all go to Help for Heroes.

I would have been mad to walk away without one of these wonderful large buttons which will be perfect for the front of a bag or an oversized pocket on something.

Fifi and Fido was Nick's choice as it is really 50s and he did say it would make a lovely bag or hat lining, so in it went.

Finally, I couldn't resist anything that resembled architectural drawings.

Just when I thought I was done, I was standing at the till and they had lucky dip bags of buttons so I had to have 2. It was only when I got home that I tipped them all onto a tray and realised just how many buttons I had for a bargain price of £10.

One final thing - a Gypsy Gripper for my long ruler. Nick did say that he could use it if he ever had to replace a car windscreen (not sure when that is likely to happen) so I felt justified.

We may not be going past Chichester on a Saturday for quite a while after that lot.

We had a lovely day at Parham Park visiting the garden and craft fayre. When we got back Sheila mentioned that she had some old sewing patterns. She appeared with 3 lovely 1970-80s patterns which Katy will love. She had some more but wasn't going to carry the box down so Nick went up and returned with the box which went into the car. She then found some more in a drawer. When I got home, I counted them and there are 70 waiting for Katy to visit and sort through.

She also produced some bits of fabric for Katy but I might be hiding those.

  1. Haha! I think you'd better take another road, and not go by there for a while! LOL What a haul! Lots of fun things....love the picture of your sweet kitty in the post below!
Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog, Lilypadquilting! I wish you good luck in the giveaway. I wanted to reply directly to you, but I could not find an email for you. When I clicked to reply, it said no-reply. Bummer. You might want to see if you can change that, tho. Some bloggers will just choose another winner, rather than track you down. :)
I'm your newest follower! Sweet Kerry at Pennydog gave me the info to find you! :)
